Health sources & citations

Last updated: August 5, 2026

Thrive Fit is a general wellness app, not a medical device. BMI, calorie, macro, water, and food-scan estimates are informational approximations and are not medical, dietary, or diagnostic advice. Consult a qualified professional before changing exercise or nutrition habits, especially if you have a medical condition.

The calculations and recommendations in the app reference the sources below. The same citations are available in the app under Profile → Health sources & citations.

Body Mass Index (BMI)

BMI is calculated as weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². Adult category cutoffs follow WHO / CDC classifications (< 18.5, 18.5–24.9, 25–29.9, ≥ 30). BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnosis.

Calorie targets (BMR / TDEE)

Resting energy needs use the Mifflin–St Jeor equation. Daily calorie suggestions multiply BMR by standard activity factors, then adjust for your selected goal. Estimates are informational only.

Protein targets

Protein goals use roughly 1.5–1.8 g per kg body weight depending on goal, within ranges discussed for active adults in sports-nutrition consensus statements.

Daily water target

Default hydration goals use about 30–35 ml per kg body weight (≈ 32 ml/kg in-app), within common public-health adequate-intake guidance, with a small adjustment for higher activity. Individual needs vary.

Meal plan calorie averages

Listed kcal/day values are approximate averages from sample meal templates in each plan. They are educational examples, not prescribed medical diets. Personal daily targets use the Mifflin–St Jeor equation.

Meal health score

The in-app health score (1–10) is a simple heuristic based on calorie size and macro balance. It is an educational estimate only — not a nutrient analysis, diagnosis, or medical rating.

Food scan & compare estimates

Photo and text food estimates use AI models to approximate calories and macros. Results can be inaccurate; always review and edit before logging. They are informational, not lab-verified nutrition facts or medical advice.

Physical activity & workouts

Guided circuits are general fitness content. Adults are commonly advised to accumulate regular aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity.
